A discussion with one
of our managing directors... Lydia McArthur.
(Lydia) John, it is truly a remarkable service... in and of itself. It was only made possible by the enormous expansion of the Internet and broadband over the last decade.
Basically, it puts at anyone's fingertips... anywhere in the world... all the information they need to run a professional job search. They simply don't need to look anywhere else... for whatever they need.
For example, our Job Market Access Center provides continuous access to virtually all published openings in 2,000 newspapers, 2,100 trade magazines, 1,500+ job boards, with 3,500 recruiters, with 300,000 employers who list openings on their website... and through Advertised Market SuperSearch.
It also delivers to you breaking news as it occurs, sorted by the location and industries you prefer. These events are leads to emerging jobs. For example, firms getting capital... new business start ups... firms with record profits and new contracts... new CEOs being appointed... companies relocating to your area... and more.
It gives you access to contacts for finding unpublished openings with recruiters, growth companies, medium and large size employers, associations, venture capitalists and board members, plus international resources.
Our Job Market Access Center also makes available investment banker reports, trade magazine analyst reports, information on employers before your interviews, backgrounds of executives who may be interviewing you, and influential alumni you may wish to contact. Custom research is also available to meet anyone's information needs.
(Lydia) Yes, and many clients comment on how helpful it is. An integral part of our service includes advanced interviewing strategies, advice for negotiating major increases, signing bonuses and equity packages, and proven solutions for handling liabilities or disabilities. This is all available online.
We also make available online our 3-day workshop recapped on 15 short audios. Online advice and information are also provided on such factors as salary surveys, legal advice upon termination, relocation to specific areas, information for those immigrating to the U.S., work at home opportunities... and much more.
(Lydia) They could find some of it. Our Job Market Access Center has several functions. In some cases it acts like a portal, to make it easy for you to contact from a single source... for example, all the publicly available sites that have advertised openings.
In other cases it makes available proprietary information—news streams we've paid a lot of money for, and other databases we've privately developed.
We've had many clients with sophisticated IT backgrounds give us high praise for our technology. Let me suggest this. If you know someone who's highly Internet savvy, ask them to show you what they'd do. Once they get past 5 to 6 sites, you're likely to find they slow down. Now, consider asking them to continue finding good situations for weeks, and identify thousands of decision makers most suitable for them. It's doubtful you'd get an enthusiastic response.
